Banned gun show WILL still be held in Montgomery County, Maryland

(Octobr 1, 2001) We are happy to report that Silverado will hold its Montgomery County gun show in October. This was in doubt because of the new county law banning such things. Last time we reported how the promoter, Frank Krasner, filed suit in federal court, and won a preliminary injunction against the county enforcing its law. That left open whether the Fairgrounds board would honor its contract with Krasner. It will. The first round of legal combat will be over later this fall (nobody expects that to be the end of the matter) but in the mean time, plan on attending to make this one a big event. It could be the last! October 20 - 21 at the fairgrounds, off Exit 11 of I-270 in Gaithersburg.

By the way, what is protected at the fairgrounds? At the August county fair, Montgomery County police gave out hate literature saying: "Ask local officials to advocate a variety of ways to prevent gun violence, such as strict local regulation of dealers with Federal Firearms Licenses, consumer protection regulations governing weapons manufacture, taxes on ammunition, bans on assault weapons, gun turn-in-days, and liability legislation."
