The Fall 1999 MPFO rifle raffle selected Mr. Harris Jordan of Kensington, MD, to receive the "Millennial Special" ... a PRE-ban AR-15 carbine with Millennial upper (with tac-light and laser) by Clint McKee of Fulton Armory. The rifle is shown below, where we see a representative of the next generation selecting the winning ticket from an ammo can during a pause in firing at a Class III event.

The Winter 1999 MPFO rifle raffle selected Mr. Berkeley Cook of Annapolis Junction, MD, to receive the .308 Silhouette Rifle by McMillan Bros. This fine rifle came with mounts and Leupold scope, ready to punch one-hole groups. Shown below is the happy winner with his rifle.

Beth Caherty of Takoma Park, Maryland, was the winner of MPFO's Summer 2000 rifle raffle. The winner took:

ArmaLite AR 10A4 Rifle
Leupold Scope
Scope mount and rings
Premier Reticle

That a resident of Takoma Park wins is no surprise, given the strong grassroots uprising there after we successfully fought off their proposal to ban all handguns there last year. Local activists have built a heavy presence in the area intending to combat anti-gun monkeyshines in the future. MPFO sold a lot of tickets in Takoma Park!

The prize was awarded on the evening of 5 September, at the Gun Rack in Burtonsville, MD. Shown below, MPFO PAC Chairman Jim Norris (right) presents the rifle to winner Caherty, as shop owner Al Rolinack looks on. (Rolinack was instrumental in getting the PAC a terrific manufacturer deal on this prize package, and has regularly provided support and advice to the PAC over the years.)

The Marylanders for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership Political Action Committee is delighted to announce that Mr. Jim Ray, of Melbourne FL, won the MPFO PAC raffle that was concluded spring 2001. Ray's ticket was drawn at random from the bin of approximately 2100 tix that ultimately came in on this event. He will receive the FULTON ARMORY AR-15 TACTICAL CARBINE as advertised.

Mr. Ray is a long-time lurker in rec.guns, and his transaction is fully in keeping with our trend towards expanding outreach via the Internet. His was an entirely electronic donation, with funds transferred via the net service e-gold and confirmation by email.

(October 31, 2001) Marylanders for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership Political Action Committee announces that Mr. Steve Naylor, of Frederick, MD, is winner of the FALL PAC raffle rifle. His ticket was drawn at random from the bin of all tickets sold in the PAC's fall fund raiser, bringing him the FULTON ARMORY AR-15 TACTICAL CARBINE (as pictured on our web site at www.direct-action.org) having custom serial number MPFO-2.

Steve is a telecommunications specialist who works with voice/data network equipment and performance analysis software. As a firearms enthusiast, he is a target shooter who is also active in the North-South Skirmish Association. Steve was delighted when we contacted him with the news of his prize, and after verifying we weren't playing a joke on him asked that we relay his quotes in our press release: "The MPFO PAC is the single best hope we Marylanders have to preserve our Second Amendment rights. We must organize and mobilize those who cherish what the founders of our state intended. We cannot depend on outside organizations to act for us. It is our responsibility to see that the free state, remains free!" We're happy to accommodate his request!

(March 9, 2002) Marylanders for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership Political Action Committee announces that Mr. Roger Volk, of Temple Hills, MD, is winner of the latest PAC raffle rifles. His ticket was drawn at random from the bin of all tickets sold in the PAC's winter fund raiser, bringing him the M1 Garand and M1 Carbine rifles, both prepared by FULTON ARMORY.

Volk is a retired Navy Senior Chief, now working as an acoustics tech at the Naval Research Lab. He's a regular shooter, and has brought up each of his four kids (and now five grandkids!) to be safe and proficient with firearms as well. (It obviously took with one son, who is now with Special Forces at Ft. Campbell.)

The prize package transferred today at the Gun Rack in Burtonsville, where Roger and wife Judy good-naturedly accepted much comment on the "his and hers M1 rifles". We'll have pictures of the happy winner being awarded his rifles just as soon as we can upload the images!

As usual, our thanks go to Clint McKee at Fulton Armory for the super job he did in preparing these rifles and for the super deal he made for the PAC. Clint has been a terrific and long time backer of gun rights, and MPFO owes him a great debt of thanks.

(July 2002) MPFO announces the winner of its latest rifle raffle. The ticket of Mr. Rudy Burgee, of Annapolis, Maryland, was drawn on June 30, bringing him the Fulton Armory AR-15 Rifle System as advertised, including one tactical upper (with C-more 'heads up' dot sighting system) and one varmint upper (for long range precision work.)

Retired from his own food processing business in Baltimore, Burgee is a long-time shooter and reloader, an NRA life member and a regular around Anne Arundel Fish & Game ranges in Annapolis. He is a long-time supporter of MPFO as well, and this time one of the fundraiser tickets he bought paid off. When meeting with PAC officers to start paperwork on transferring his prize, he stressed the importance of everyone becoming involved in the defense of liberty, and of course we couldn't agree more.

A special thanks to all PAC supporters whose donations to fund raisers like this fuel a pro-gun political effort here in Maryland. MPFO invests donations in order to defend our friends and defeat our foes in elections, like what is coming up in November. This is a front line state, and gun control stopped here needn't be fought down the road, so our work is doubly important. Thanks to Clint McKee at Fulton Armory for providing a superior product, a made-in-Maryland prize second to none, and likewise to our friends at the Gun Rack in Burtonsville for their help in paperwork associated with lawful transfer of prize packages. The real winners in this event are all citizens who value our Second Amendment Rights!

(Rudy is shown below with wife June and some of the components of the prize package!)

(October 2002) MPFO announces the winner of its latest rifle raffle. Congrats to Mr. Steve Chaconas of Rockville, MD, whose ticket was drawn at the end of September. Steve wins his choice of one of three premier Fulton Armory rifle systems. His choice: the Fulton tactical AR-15, a carbine with C-more dot scope.

Steve is a professional glass blower working at a high tech firm in Montgomery County, and has been a regular donor to MPFO over the years. "All those gun shows I bought tickets. They paid off in terms of fighting for my rights, and now they paid off with this tremendous rifle!"

A special thanks to all PAC supporters whose donations to fund raisers like this fuel a pro-gun political effort here in Maryland. MPFO invests donations in order to defend our friends and defeat our foes in elections, like the major fight this November. This is a front line state, and gun control stopped here needn't be fought down the road, so our work is doubly important.

Thanks as well to Clint McKee at Fulton Armory for providing a superior product, a made-in-Maryland prize second to none, and likewise to our friends at the Gun Rack in Burtonsville for their help in paperwork associated with lawful transfer of prize packages. Of course, the real winners in this event are all citizens who value our Second Amendment Rights!

(November 2002) MPFO announces the winner of its latest rifle raffle. Congrats to Mr. Steve Uhrig of Street, MD, whose ticket was drawn at the end of this month. Steve wins his choice of one of three premier Fulton Armory rifle systems. His choice: none of them! He took the cash option in order to turn it around and donate to a number of worthy pro-gun projects! Now there's a patriot!

Steve is an expert in security, and as a consultant runs his own international security firm. He has been a regular donor to several pro-gun projects over the years, MPFO and Tripwire among them. When we asked for a message to relay to readers, he was quite emphatic: "Everyone can help the effort in some fashion. Some people are on the front lines. Some people write newsletters. Some donate money to fund the operations. All are necessary. Each contributes as he is able, towards a common goal. One stamp costs 37 cents. One stamp informed me and got me active fighting to keep our rights. You can make a difference too. Support this PAC and newsletter!"

A special thanks to all PAC supporters whose donations to fund raisers like this fuel a pro-gun political effort here in Maryland. MPFO invests donations in order to defend our friends and defeat our foes in elections, like the major fight last November. This is a front line state, and gun control stopped here needn't be fought down the road, so our work is doubly important.

(Steve is shown below displaying his prize check in the office whose wall displays the famous clients he has worked with. And yes, he assures us: "I *am* smiling!")

(March 2003) MPFO annouces that Jack Keery wins the PAC's latest Rifle Raffle. Keery's ticket was the first drawn at random at the end of February, concluding the PAC's latest successful fund raiser on behalf of pro-gun political efforts.

Jack retired from the Montgomery County Police department, a career he built after six years as a Marine (including a '50-'51 tour in Korea.) He is a cheerful instructor, and a long-time competitor. The little gold Distinguished Pistol pin on his cap is evidence he belongs to an exclusive club of the most capable pistol shooters in the world.

Keery should be known to firearm owners because of his political service as well. He was the NRA's pick to serve on Maryland's Handgun Roster Board when it was first formed in the last 1980's. As an original member of the board, Jack's gift of gab is credited with getting nearly all then-current handgun products listed on the Roster, and hence legal for sale in Maryland. This was a coup, given the board's largely anti-gun makeup.

Many political operations benefitted from Keery's insights over the years, and ours is no exception. Long-time readers know he was one of sources of information we turned to in the early days of our publication. In the May 1997 Tripwire we wrote a longer biography on the occasion of his stepping down from the Roster Board and overt political activism. Obviously his ticket coming up as the latest raffle rifle winner shows he has remained an active donor to the political action committee!

Jack wins his choice of one of three premier Fulton Armory rifle packages as advertised on the web page. Thanks to Clint McKee at Fulton for building such exquisite products, and to Alan Rolinack at the Gun Rack in Burtonsville for his help in transferring prizes for the PAC. And a special thanks to everyone whose generous donations to MPFO have led to victories that put guns back on the political map here in Maryland!

Thanks to those who make this possible!
